History

Noack Laboratorien GmbH was founded in 1986 by Dr. Udo Noack at the Technology Center Hildesheim, initially focusing on water quality analysis and aquatic toxicity testing. Early efforts were dedicated to developing measurement methods for algal growth.

In 1990, the company received its first GLP certification, which has been maintained ever since. Over the following years, the focus shifted toward ecotoxicological studies, leading to continuous expansion of analytical methods and equipment. In 1996, Noack Laboratorien moved to a newly constructed facility in Sarstedt.

The late 1990s saw significant advancements, including certification for usage of genetically modified organisms and 14C-labelled test substances. Terrestrial test systems were introduced in 1994, followed by large-scale testing on non-target plants in 1999.

To accommodate growing demands, the company expanded its facilities in 2004 and again in 2011, particularly in response to increasing ecotoxicological study requests under REACH. Recent years have seen rapid development in environmental fate testing, physical-chemical property assessments, and pollinator studies, including honeybee and bumblebee tests.

In 2016, Dr. Christian Maeß succeeded Dr. Udo Noack. Today, Noack Laboratorien specializes in handling complex substances, offering a broad range of ecotoxicological and chemical studies tailored to specific research needs.
